The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari is wonderful book filled with
many inspirational values that will enforce one to reflect into ourselves, give
some thought to our life, the daily activities you are engaged in and to goals
in life.
It’s a story told from the perspective of one of his
associates who admire Mantle’s great success and aspires to be like him. The story revolves around the protagonist
“Julian Mantle,” a high profile Attorney with busy schedules who sets priority that
centre around money, power and prestige. Mr. Mantle has everything in life that
one would aspire of yet, the hunger for more fame consumes him finally. He
suffers from a series heart attack which brings a turning point in his life
that completely altered his notion towards life. He no longer hunts for those
materialistic possessions rather he sells everything including his most
treasured Ferrari. He realizes that wealth, fame and success were not everything
in life. He goes to India in search of meaning in life, where he meets with
some mythical saints. When he returned home, his associates is amazed by the
transformation mantle has gone through.
The very important ideology that I would like to convey here
is, with inline to Mantle’s life, human desire is never ending emotion; all he
wanted was more and more. Today due to earthquake, Nepal is suffering from the
massive destruction, people are in need of clothes, food and shelters, yet the
lucky people who have their properties secure, they tend to sell a bottle of
water which is actually Nu.15 in almost ten times the price, Which shows humans
are unbelievable who want to be rich in the hubbub of all the destruction,
instead if that person donate the basic things in charity to the needy people,
the immense satisfaction that will get is much more worth appreciating and
blissful. Money can’t buy everything. So give love to all, because no one know
at what point and when we will be in need of it and desire creates chaos not
the satisfaction.
The character I liked in this story is Julian Mantle because
a real human is one who learns from his mistakes, not the one who repeats his
mistakes.
“He slept beneath the moon, he basted beneath the sun. He
lived the life of going to do and died with nothing done”_James Albery
I would recommend everyone to read this book because it is
worth reading with good morals, a fable about fulfilling your dreams and
reaching your destiny and a tale which provide you step-by-step approach to
living with greater courage, balance, abundance and joy.
