A Review on Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief by Chhimi XII C

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
Title: Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
 Author: Rick Riordon
Genre:  Young adult fiction and fantasy
Major characters: Percy Jackson,  Anambah chase ,Groover underhood.

This novel brings forward the ancient myth of greek to world immortal gods watch over the mankind. Monsters comes out from tarturus to create chaos and disorder on earth while demigods, children of god and human ensure that the monster are send back to tarturus. This noble is centered on a young teenager name percy Jackson, the son of paseidon. It comes out as a shock to him when he learns that the Greek gods are real as any human beings on earth. The problem takes its roots when zeus, one of the big three gods and the god of the sky, lose his most powerful weapon, thunder bold his suspects Poseidon of the robbery. It is up to percy and his friends Anabeth and Groven to recover the lost item before the winter solstices. But the quest isn’t a child play. Percy and his friends tackle many hardships in recovering the lost item with the time lacking by taking suggestion of Mr.Bernard, they travel to underworld suspecting Haydes behind the robbery. The truth slowly unfolds and to the astonishment of everyone, the mastermind behind the robbery turns out to be Kornos, the dangerous and powerful of all monsters. To avenge the gods for his death, Kornos slowly raise bringing distruction in to the world. At the end,Percy and his friends gets successful in their mission. But his task remains incomplete as Kornos slowly starts to rise the book comes to an end with Percy’s adventure continuing in the second of series, the sea of monsters Anabeth Chase is the character I like the most. She was a source of inspiration for me. Though being a girl she is as brave as she is other two male friends. Throughout the mission, she overcomes every hardship with her calm nature. She is a wise girl due to her intelligence. It was amusing to see her know everything. It intrigued me to know that the secret behind her intelligent was her books and as a result, I was inspired to read more books.

Zeus is one such character I dislike; the very reason is due to his super-god pride. He thinks no end of himself and he is impulsive without thinking he blamed Poseidon of the robbery.

After completing the novel, the morals I have learned from it is:
1. No matter how powerful the evil is, the good always sledge hammers it.
2. Nothing can stop a willing heart.

For people loving adventurous and fictions books like me, the Percy Jackson series are the best books you can hold on. The book is unavailable in our school library but if you like, the story there is a movie version of the novel. In addition, to find out what happens in the sea of monsters, go hurry up and grab the Percy Jackson series. It is worth reading and I as a reader assure you that you will not be disappointed.

Thank you and Happy Reading Year.
